Independent samples t-tests examined differences between patients (n = 133) and healthy participants (n = 39) in anterior insula volumes (corrected for ICV). As Levene’s test for equality of variance was significant (p < .05) for the right anterior insula volumes, results that did not assume equal variance were used. ^* p < .05 (2-tailed).
