Brain regions with altered fractional anisotropy (FA) in subjects with subsyndromal depression compared to healthy controls. A significant height threshold of p < 0.001 with an extent threshold of k > 127 voxels (1016 mm3) (p < 0.05, corrected by AlphaSim correction) was set for the two-sample t-test. Warm colors represent increased FA values (SSD > HC), and cool colors represent decreased FA values (SSD < HC). INS: left insula; THA: left thalamus; Midbrain: left and right brainstem in midbrain. The details of altered regions are listed in Table 2.
