ATP III (3 of 5)

IDF (2 of 4, central obesity is mandatory)

Waist circumference

Abdominal obesity, based on waist circumference > 102 cm for men, and > 88 cm for women

Central obesity based on ethnicity specific valuesa (for Europids: waist circumference ≥ 94 cm for men, and ≥ 80 cm for women).

Triglycerides

≥ 150 mg/dL

≥ 150 mg/dL, or specific treatment for this lipid abnormality.

HDL cholesterol

<  40 mg/dL for men

<  50 mg/dL for women

<  40 mg/dL for men, <  50 mg/dL for women, or specific treatment for this lipid abnormality.

Blood pressure (BP)

≥ 130/ ≥85 mmHg

Systolic BP ≥ 130 mmHg, or diastolic BP ≥ 85 mmHg, or treatment of previously diagnosed hypertension.

Fasting glucose

≥ 110 mg/dL

≥ 100 mg/dL, or previously diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus.
